Dan Datcu

born in 1986

Dan studied at the ”Floria Capsali” Romanian National Ballet Academy in Bucharest.

Dan danced in the National Theatre in Romania during the season 2002-2003. He was a member of the Wiener Staatsoper Ballet for five seasons (2005 – 2010). He proved his talent in the classical ballet productions. In his repertoire can be found such pieces as: Cinderella, The Swan lake, Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliete, Eugene Onegin, Giselle, Manon, Anna Karenina, Coppelia, Bajadére and many others. In 2010 he danced with the Humunculus Tanz Theater (Austria) in the production Jennifer choreographed by Nicolaus Adler.

Besides dancing Dan has experience as a choreographer. On the occassion of ChoreoLabs in 2007 and 2009, e created choreographies “given, but one wing”, and “everlasting pictures” respectively. 

He won twice the Romanian National Dance Competition in 2002 and 2004.

 In 2011 he went with Wiener Volksoper on tour to Japan.
